During these weeks before Easter, our folks who are entering the Catholic Church through the Rite of Christian Initiation will be in a period of final preparation. There are a few different Rites that we will celebrate; some at our weekend Masses, and some in our RCIA class time on Wednesdays.
The Penitential Rite is for CANDIDATES (those who have already been baptized, most of them in other Christian denominations) and will be celebrated at Noon Mass on February 21. There are three Scrutinies for the ELECT (those who have not yet been baptized). This is a time for them to scrutinize their lives and pray with the community. These Scrutinies are to be held on Saturday, February 27 at the 5:45 Mass; Saturday March 5 at the 4:15 Mass; and Sunday, March 13 at the 10:00 Mass. These Rites are very short but very powerful!
Also at our RCIA sessions and Catholicism 101 we will present the Creed to the Elect on March 2 and present the Lord’s Prayer to the Elect on March 16.
Our attendees at the RCIA classes and Catholicism 101 have asked to start meeting earlier. We will begin at 6:30 on Wednesdays. Starting February 17!
For the Wednesdays of Lent, we will focus our topics on the Sacraments and especially the Mass. Using the Sacred Scripture (the Bible) and Sacred Tradition (the Creed and Catechism) we will dig into the awesome power and grace given to us through the Sacraments and then go step-by-step in explaining the Mass. Anyone is welcomed to join us!
Please pray for these Candidates and Elect!
