As a new season of faith formation approaches, we invite everyone—parishioners, families, and those exploring the Catholic faith—to discover opportunities to grow closer to Christ at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Whether you’re looking to volunteer, study Sacred Scripture, or become more involved in parish life, there are several exciting opportunities coming up this fall.
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
Our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) ministry continues to help children develop a deep and personal relationship with Jesus, the Good Shepherd, through a peaceful, hands-on Montessori-based approach to faith formation.
Become a Volunteer Assistant
We’re looking for volunteers to assist in our CGS Atrium for an hour or two each week during the school year. No previous experience is necessary.
Assistant Training is offered on:
- Wednesday, August 12 | 6:00–7:30 PM
- Wednesday, August 19 | 10:00–11:30 AM
Serving in CGS is a beautiful way to share your faith while helping children encounter Christ in a meaningful way.
Student Registration
Registration is now open for homeschool and public school students.
Students attending St. John School participate in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd during the school day.

Catholic Bible School of Michigan
Have you ever wanted to better understand the New Testament?
Beginning this September, St. John is once again hosting the Catholic Bible School of Michigan on Monday evenings from 7:00–9:00 PM.
Throughout the year, participants will journey through:
- The Gospel of Matthew
- The Gospel of Mark
- The Gospel of Luke
- The Acts of the Apostles
- The Letters of St. Paul
Together we’ll discover how God’s Word continues to shape our lives as disciples today.
