THANK YOU to all who stopped by our Come & See Event! It was so great to see many from our parish family gathered together for donuts and coffee, checking out our upcoming Faith Formation opportunities and ways to get involved with our parish ministries. It was also awesome to see some new faces, meeting those new to our St. John community. Welcome!
A big THANK YOU to all of our ministry leaders and members who showed up to recruit, inform, and represent! Your heart for service is so apparent, and your dedication to your ministry is appreciated!
If you missed it or couldn’t stop by, please find an interest survey on page 5 (titled Becoming Missionary Disciples) or in the church vestibule. Fill it out and return it to the parish office (or offertory basket). We’ll get you connected with the right person to get you involved! Many commented that they didn’t realize “all that our parish does/offers!”

Looking ahead, there’s still time to join in Faith Formation opportunities beginning this fall! This week, an OCIA new inquiry meeting is offered on Wednesday, 9/9, at 6:30 p.m. This is a chance to “find out more”….especially great for you to bring a friend or family member who might be interested in possibly finding out more about the Catholic faith! Afterward, OCIA/Catholicism 101 classes will begin regularly on Sundays and Wednesdays (you choose the day that’s best for you!)
Our second year of hosting Catholic Biblical School of Michigan on Monday nights kicks off on 9/14. This year dives into the New Testament and is open to all, even if you weren’t involved last year…with it being a whole new topic and new teacher, you won’t be “behind” at all! Please see the ad in this bulletin for more information.
Can’t get to faith formation on a regular weekly basis? SAVE THE DATE for our upcoming Parish Mission Speaker on 10/18, 10/19, and 10/20. The vivacious Fr. Patrick Gonyeau will be joining us to present Into the Fire: Embracing the Adventure of Life in the Holy Spirit. Yes, it is three consecutive nights, from 7-9pm, but the investment will bear much fruit in your life and in the lives of others that you partner with the Holy Spirit to help encounter the Lord! These talks are free and will be open to all!
Finally, we’re trying something new! This past weekend’s coffee was from Jackson Coffee Company and the doughnuts were from Meckley’s Flavor Fruit Farms! We are doing a “trial run” this fall, first Sundays after the 8am and 10am Masses. (We’re still working out some details for our dark roast coffee, but with a few suggestions received, we think we can tweak our prep and offer a true bold, dark roast next time around! Of course, light roast and decaf will also be options.) So, join us Sunday,10/4, as we continue our Coffee & Doughnuts Sunday! Thank you to Travis for spearheading this new initiative for us! It’s a great opportunity for more fellowship and a time for parish unity!
Jesus always invites us to “Come & See!” So, whether it’s joining him in service to others through ministry efforts or learning more about our Lord through faith formation classes, he just awaits our response! Fall is a great time to take another step in your faith journey!
Thank you, Lord, for our St. John Parish family, with huge hearts for service and souls longing to grow deeper in relationship with you!
