The crucifixion, resurrection, and Great Commission—the triumphant conclusion to Matthew’s Gospel and the fulfillment of God’s plan of salvation.
In Episode 55, the final installment of our study of the Gospel of Matthew, we examine Matthew 27:33-28:20 as the Gospel reaches its glorious conclusion. We reflect on the details surrounding Christ’s crucifixion, the two thieves crucified beside Him, and the faithful witness of those who remained at the Cross. We also explore the important role of Joseph of Arimathea, whose courage and devotion ensured Jesus received a proper burial. The study then turns to the greatest event in human history—the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Finally, we conclude with the Great Commission, where the risen Lord sends His disciples into the whole world to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to observe all that He commanded. Matthew’s Gospel ends with Christ’s enduring promise: “I am with you always, until the end of the age.”
