Jesus challenges us to choose our master, see the world through the light of faith, and trust completely in God’s providence.

In Episode 19 of our study of the Gospel of Matthew, we continue through the Sermon on the Mount with Matthew 6:22-34. Jesus speaks about the eye as the lamp of the body, revealing two ways of looking at the world—one rooted in faith and trust, the other in darkness and self-interest. He then presents the choice between two masters: God or worldly wealth. The passage concludes with some of the most beloved teachings in all of Scripture as Jesus urges His followers not to worry or be anxious, but to trust in the Father’s loving care and seek first the Kingdom of God.
