Jesus stands before Pilate, endures scourging and humiliation, and begins His journey to Calvary for the salvation of the world.

In Episode 54 of our study of the Gospel of Matthew, we examine Matthew 27:11-32 as the Passion of Christ continues. Jesus is brought before Pontius Pilate, where political pressure and fear outweigh justice. We explore Pilate’s role in the trial, the release of Barabbas, and the heartbreaking decision to condemn the innocent Son of God. The episode then follows Jesus through His scourging, mocking by the Roman soldiers, crowning with thorns, and the beginning of His journey to Golgotha. Along the way, Simon of Cyrene is compelled to carry the cross, reminding us that discipleship often means sharing in Christ’s suffering. As we reflect on these events, we are drawn more deeply into the mystery of Christ’s sacrificial love, for by His holy Cross He has redeemed the world.
