FALL FAITH FORMATION:  DIFFERENT TIMES, DIFFERENT APPROACHES

One of our favorite weekly events is the Catholicism 101 sessions, which also serve as the introduction to Catholicism for those who want to become Catholic (RCIA; the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults). Due to the safety regulations with the pandemic, we will be offering in-person classes on Wednesdays in the Parish Center, but with ample spacing and similar requirements that we have elsewhere: masks, hand-washing, no sharing of supplies, and a short “health check-in” form. Along with the live sessions, we will ZOOM those meetings each week for anyone who would like to log on. We will also record those sessions for folks who have schedule conflicts and might want to visit the content later at their convenience. RCIA / 101 will be meeting 6:30pm until 8:00 on Wednesdays, starting this week, September 9. To get the ZOOM login information, contact todd@saintjohnjackson.org

The restrictions have interrupted our Sunday Religious Education sessions as well. People might know this as Religious Ed, Family Faith Formation, Catechism, CCD, Sunday School–but no matter what you call it, we will be focusing on at-home Family Faith Formation for the fall and will not have any in-person classes for the kiddos or the parents. We pray things return to something like normal after the turn of the year. Parents will have the opportunity to be part of a seven-week ZOOM Small Group (meeting on Sundays at 10 a.m. or same content repeated Thursdays at 7 p.m.) and have at-home resources for children (Pre-K to 5th grade).  It makes things clearer for us if parents could still register their families at https://saintjohnjackson.org/faith-formationmenu/religious-education/, or contact clare@saintjohnjackson.org. The parent meetings will be a dynamic look at HOW TO TALK TO YOUR KIDS ABOUT THE MASS. Our first session begins on September 27th! To get the ZOOM login information, we will send it to you upon registration, or contact todd@saintjohnjackson.org

We will be contacting 2nd grade families about Sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Holy Eucharist. 2nd Graders in Family Faith Formation (those NOT attending St. John Catholic School) will have a seven-week ZOOM class and some great cartoon-videos to prepare them! Again, registration is super important. We will have some special videos and extra contact with all the 2nd Grade families throughout the year (both the School families and Faith Formation).

Clare DeWitt is fine-tuning the details for Middle School and Confirmation sessions that will meet those same seven weeks on Sunday afternoons, hopefully in person! Details to follow!
