Jesus redefines spiritual family and begins teaching the mysteries of the Kingdom through the Parable of the Sower.
In Episode 30 of our study of the Gospel of Matthew, we examine Matthew 12:43-13:17 as Jesus concludes one section of His ministry and begins the third major discourse of Matthew’s Gospel: the Kingdom Parables. We explore Jesus’ teaching about His true family and take a closer look at the often-discussed “brothers” of Jesus, examining the biblical evidence and historical understanding of this passage. We then begin the Parable of the Sower, one of Jesus’ most important teachings about how people receive the Word of God. Along the way, we discover why Jesus teaches in parables and what these stories reveal about the Kingdom of Heaven.
