In Episode 38 of our study of the Gospel of Matthew, we examine Matthew 18:15-19:9 as Jesus provides essential teachings on life within the Christian community. We explore Christ’s instructions for addressing a sinning brother, the role of the Church’s authority in resolving disputes, and Peter’s famous question about how often we must forgive. Jesus responds with the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant, revealing the extraordinary mercy God extends to us and the forgiveness He expects us to show others. The episode then moves into Chapter 19, where the Pharisees question Jesus about divorce and remarriage, leading to one of His clearest teachings on God’s design for marriage and the permanence of the marital covenant.
