Jesus concludes the Sermon on the Mount with a call to authentic discipleship and begins revealing His divine authority through miraculous healing.
In Episode 21 of our study of the Gospel of Matthew, we examine Matthew 7:15-8:4 as Jesus concludes the Sermon on the Mount and begins His ministry of miracles. Christ warns His followers about false prophets, challenges complacency in the spiritual life, and teaches that true discipleship requires doing the will of the Father—not merely hearing His words. Through the parable of the two houses, Jesus emphasizes the importance of building our lives on the solid foundation of obedience and faith. We then enter Chapter 8 and encounter the healing of the leper, the first of ten miracles in Matthew’s Gospel. The leper’s encounter with Jesus serves as a beautiful summary of the Gospel itself, revealing Christ’s compassion, power, and desire to restore what sin has broken.
