The Passion begins as Jesus is anointed for His burial, Judas agrees to betray Him, and the stage is set for the Last Supper.

In Episode 50 of our study of the Gospel of Matthew, we begin the Passion Narrative with Matthew 26:1-16. As Jesus prepares for His suffering and death, we explore the role of High Priest Caiaphas and his involvement in the plot against Christ, as well as what history tells us about his life. We also examine the beautiful account of the woman who anoints Jesus, discussing her identity and the significance of her act of devotion. The episode then turns to Judas Iscariot’s agreement to betray the Lord, considering the possible motives behind his decision. Finally, we look ahead to the Passover, examining what took place on the day the Passover lambs were slaughtered and how these events prepare us to understand the Last Supper and Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross.
