Jesus enters His agony in Gethsemane, remains faithful to the Father’s will, and is betrayed by Judas into the hands of His enemies.
In Episode 52 of our study of the Gospel of Matthew, we examine Matthew 26:31-56 as the Passion of Christ unfolds. Jesus predicts Peter’s denial before leading His disciples to the Garden of Gethsemane, where He experiences profound anguish as He prepares to embrace the Father’s will. We reflect on Christ’s prayer, His invitation to “watch and pray,” and the disciples’ inability to remain awake. The episode culminates with Judas’ betrayal through a kiss and Jesus’ arrest. Even in the midst of suffering and betrayal, Christ demonstrates perfect obedience, mercy, and trust in the Father’s plan of salvation.
