Jesus calls His disciples to remain watchful as we explore the Olivet Discourse alongside Catholic teaching and historical private revelations.
In Episode 48 of our study of the Gospel of Matthew, we conclude Jesus’ Olivet Discourse with Matthew 24:36-25:13. Christ emphasizes that no one knows the day or the hour of His return, calling His followers to constant vigilance and faithful readiness through the examples of Noah, the faithful servant, and the Parable of the Ten Virgins. Along the way, we take an extended look at how Jesus’ teachings connect with the Catechism of the Catholic Church and discuss several well-known private revelations, from Our Lady of Guadalupe in the sixteenth century to more recent reported apparitions and prophecies. Together, we consider how Catholics should approach these events—with discernment, fidelity to the Church, and a focus on the Gospel—while asking whether they help illuminate the times in which we live.
