Happy Father’s Day!

On this Father’s Day, we invite you to pray for all fathers! We also take this opportunity to thank two of our spiritual fathers, Fr. Chas and Fr. Brian! Thank you, both, for teaching us, praying for us, guiding us, and bringing us Christ in his Word and in the sacraments.

Next weekend, on June 27th, we’ll have the opportunity to welcome newly ordained Fr. Mark Martin! He will celebrate Masses of Thanksgiving at St. Joseph at 9:30 a.m. and at St. John at noon. A light reception will follow the noon Mass in the parish center, and we invite you to join us for fellowship and to receive a special blessing from Fr. Mark.

Help us lift up Fr. Mark in prayer as he begins his priestly ministry! “Spiritual Bouquet” cards, like the sample to the right, can be found at the ends of the pews and in the vestibules. A spiritual bouquet consists of prayers and devotions offered on behalf of someone, typically for a special occasion (like an ordination or an anniversary, etc.) Each prayer or devotion, if you will, becomes a “flower,” creating a beautiful spiritual gift for that person. Who wouldn’t want to be surrounded by a “bouquet of prayer”! If you’d like to join us in offering prayer for Mark, please fill one out and leave it in the baskets located in the main and ramp entrances. We’ll present them to him next week, assuring him of our ongoing prayer support! These cards may also be dropped by the office this week.

We thank you, Lord, for all the men who act as fathers in our lives, from our earthly fathers, to our priests and grandpas, to neighbors and coaches and teachers. St. Joseph, we ask your intercession for fathers, today and always! Amen.
