Want to share your faith?  Get involved!

At St. John parish we are working under the guidance of Fr. Chas Canoy’s vision in implementing the call of the New Evangelization.  We have the tools and the people ready to lay the foundation for an encounter with Jesus Christ (evangelization) and then to begin the process of discipleship through prayer and learning (catechesis).  We have many opportunities for those who want to help evangelize and disciple others.  Nothing strengthens and defines your own faith quite like sharing, teaching, encouraging or evangelizing!

Alpha

Alpha is a journey of very simple conversations which are facilitated by a series of dynamic videos.  They help someone explore the answers to life’s most important questions and introduce them to the person of Jesus.  Several times each year we host this video series, and we are always looking for more table hosts and table helpers: those who facilitate conversations, welcome people, care for them, and pray.  Sometimes we need cooks, servers, set-up crew, clean-up crew, and other roles depending on the location where we host Alpha.  Our Alpha Team occasionally needs a hand with registrations, tracking attendance, paperwork, and organizing.

Religious Education

Religious Education (CCD) is an awesome Sunday experience for our preschool through 8th graders, plus a terrific adult class, which meets during the school year at the school.  It is offered especially for those who would not otherwise have access to a Catholic education or a program of faith formation.  We would love to have more catechists (teachers) and helpers, substitutes, and greeters.  We are also on the lookout for musicians and vocalists who can do silly songs for kids and praise and worship music for the teens.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word

Children’s Liturgy of the Word meets on Sunday during Mass, and opens the Word of God for little children in our parish center while moms and dads participate in the Sunday readings and homily.  If you love working with kids and want to volunteer your time in this important ministry, call the Parish Office.

Communion to the Home bound

Do you desire to bring Jesus to others?  What if you could do that in a literal way?  Consider volunteering to give Holy Communion to our shut-ins and sick who cannot attend Mass on a regularly basis.  Hours are flexible and you can choose to visit hospitals, nursing homes, or do home visits.
