Fr. ChasDear Parish Family,

I am happy to announce that we have a newly ordained deacon:  Rev. Mr. David Etters!  Please join us in congratulating Deacon Dave (that has a nice ring to it)!  There will be a reception after the 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Masses at which Deacon Dave will be serving.  Both Deacon Dave and Deacon Mike will be preaching the Masses for the Most Holy Trinity on May 30 and 31.

Next weekend, Fr. Mathias Thelen will be with us for the Pentecost Healing Service!
Many of you know him since he was a priest here in Jackson for a few years.  He is presently helping with the formation of our seminarians, serving on the seminary faculty in a similar capacity that I had during my four years there.  Since I will be on my annual canonical retreat, Fr. Mathias will also be celebrating the Sunday Masses for which I was scheduled:  4:15 p.m. (Saturday evening), 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. when he will tell a little more about the Pentecost Healing Service later that evening at 6:00 p.m.

This past Friday, we honored our many volunteers at the Stewardship Appreciation Dinner.  It takes so many members of the body of Christ to have the parish run the way it does, to serve the spiritual needs of the people, and to do the work of evangelization that Christ calls us to do!  The heads of all our different parish groups tried to include all of our adult parishioners who have consistently volunteered throughout the year, but there may have been a name or two missed.  Please let us know if you were one of them!

Also, please let me know of your willingness to get involved and volunteer in some way.  We are in need of YOU!  Please email me (fr.chas@stjohnjackson.org), and our Director of Communications, Jeromy, and I will be following up to discover the ways, depending on your desires and gifts, that you can serve the people of God!  With our new 5:00 p.m. Mass beginning June 7, we are especially in need of folks to be extraordinary ministers of holy communion (EMs), lectors, musicians, servers, and ushers.

Yours in Christ,
