Hi! It’s been an honor to serve as the Master of Ceremonies and help train our Altar Servers at each Mass. Often, there are so many questions that I wish I had time to answer in the few minutes before each Mass. To that end, I’ll be offering three Altar Server training sessions in July.
On July 11, 2015 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. will be a “Basic Training” open to anyone that is currently an Altar Server, or is interested in becoming one. This is open to all boys and girls that will be going into the 4th or higher grade in the fall.
We will have two “Advanced Training” sessions for Altar Servers that have already served for at least one year. These sessions will include how to help novice servers, how to use the thurible (incense), and how to best serve at more solemn Masses. Attending one of the two sessions is required for any server wishing to be promoted to Senior Server.
The first advanced session will be held on July 11, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., although they are welcome to stay until 3:00 p.m. and help with the “Basic Training” session. The second Advanced Training session will be held on July 23, 2015 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
